Roman castles and Tivoli The 16th century Villa of Cardinal D’Este

If you love nature and Italian cuisine, we invite you to dedicate a whole day to the suburbs of Rome.

You can combine two tours: Roman Castles and Tivoli Villa d’Este.

You can include a master class of Italian cuisine or lunch in a restaurant in Tivoli – at your discretion.

Not far from Rome, on the tops of volcanic hills, are picturesque towns, formerly impregnable fortresses with castles. The castles have long since collapsed, but the name remains – “Roman Castles.” In one of these towns, Castel Gandolfo, in the XVII century was created summer residence of the Pope, which still fulfils its function. Another lake, Lake Nemi, is a short drive away.

The Pope’s residence is located on the high shore of Lake Albano, the view of which is breathtaking. A few minutes’ drive away is another lake – Lake Nemi.

On the shores of Lake Nemi is the ship museum (1 hour to visit the ship museum; closed on Mondays), created in Mussolini’s time after ships from the time of Emperor Caligula were recovered from the bottom of the lake.

Open all days except Monday, 25 December, 1 May, 1 January
