Alsace – this region has a unique geographical position that makes it a commercial crossroads and one of the leading centres of business life in France and Europe. Centuries-old traditions and legends are cherished here. Everything is like in a fairy tale – houses of stone and wood decorated with bright colours, Catholic churches, wine cellars, storks on the roofs, dilapidated old castles, mountain landscapes with vineyards. The first stop is the town of Kolmar, cosy and charming, reminiscent of Venice. In the centre of the town is the 13th century Dominican monastery, where you will see the most famous work of the German Renaissance, the Isenheim Altarpiece, a collection of Gothic paintings and the famous image of the Madonna in a rose arbour. During the sightseeing tour you will be able to walk along the picturesque streets and get acquainted with the main sights of the city. You will see the highest Gothic building of medieval Europe – the world famous Strasbourg Cathedral. In the cosy restaurants of the old part of the town you will taste traditional Alsatian cuisine. On the way back you will make a stop in the beautiful Alsatian town of Riquir, which means “rich village” in the local dialect. It’s a kind of open-air museum town, with 16th and 17th century buildings, quaint streets and ancient fountains.
