Bilbao and suburbs

One-day excursion program, duration – approximately 8 hours

This trip will introduce you to Bilbao, a city of contrasts, where Gothic meets futurism, and an industrial past transforms into an artistic present.

• You’ll begin with a stroll through the historic center:

The Cathedral of Santiago, hidden in a labyrinth of ancient streets;

The Arriaga Theater and City Hall – an elegant neo-Baroque building inspired by the Paris Opera;

The colorful Ribera Market – a true feast of flavors and colors, the largest indoor market in Europe;

The retro charm of Concordia Station – a modernist monument with beautiful stained glass windows and an Art Nouveau façade.

• Next, a driving tour of modern Bilbao:

The snow-white Zubizuri Bridge, like a subtle touch on the cityscape;

• The Guggenheim Museum is a grand symbol of the new Bilbao.

After a lunch break at one of the Basque restaurants, we’ll head to the unique Vizcaya Bridge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

• A short ferry ride.

Optional climb to the upper gallery overlooking the bay.

• Next stop: the charming town of Getxo:

Early 20th-century mansions built for the Basque elite, surrounded by gardens and promenades, preserving the spirit of Bilbao’s golden age;

The seaside port and its characterful streets offer the ambiance of an old fishing village, with cozy squares, traditional bars, and views of the Atlantic Ocean;

A stroll through the prestigious Areeta neighborhood, renowned for its elegant promenades and beaches;

And finally, a cable car ride to the summit of Monte Archanda. From here you can enjoy a stunning panorama of all of Bilbao – a worthy end to a busy day.
