During this tour, you’ll see all of Berlin’s most important “classic” landmarks:
- Alexanderplatz – an architectural complex of past and present, the Berlin TV Tower, the Marienkirche, and the Rotes Rathaus.
- Nikolaiviertel – the cradle of Berlin, home to St. Nicholas Church.
- Berlin Cathedral – the largest Protestant church in Germany, the Lustgarten, Museum Island, the Old Museum, the New Museum, the Old National Gallery, the Pergamon Museum, and the Bode Museum.
- The Princess Palace – Berlin’s past and present, the Crown Prince’s Palace, the New Guardhouse, and the German Historical Museum.
- The Gendarmenmarkt and its architectural ensemble, including the Dom (Cathedral), the French Cathedral, and the Concert Hall.
- Friedrichstrasse – Berlin’s main north-south thoroughfare, the border checkpoint on Friedrichstrasse is called “Checkpoint Charlie.” Unter den Linden Street – a fusion of different eras and styles, the Unter den Linden State Opera, Humboldt University, the statue of Frederick the Great, and the Russian Embassy.
- Brandenburg Gate – a symbol of Berlin’s division and reunification, and the Reichstag.
- The Government Quarter – an area with a modern architectural complex of government buildings in central Berlin, the Bundesrepublik (Bundesreichstag), the Chancellery of Germany, and Berlin Main Station.
