Gracie is an ancient fishing village on the banks of the Minchio River. On its territory, there is an ancient sanctuary that attracted and continues to attract numerous pilgrims. This unique place is filled with numerous “ex voto” and testimonies of popular devotion. The inner walls of the sanctuary are decorated with wooden statues and papier-mâché sculptures depicting all those whom the Madonna saved from imminent death. Every year on August 15, an international competition for devotees of the Virgin Mary takes place in the churchyard, during which artists from around the world test themselves in recreating paintings on religious themes, drawing with colored chalk on the pavement.
