The French are exquisite gardeners, since the 17th century, probably leading in this art. Paris is the capital of France, so the uniqueness of its parks is not surprising.
Of course, this is the most central park of Paris – the Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Garden), famous for poets and artists and laid by the famous queen – Catherine de Medici. The Paris meridian used to pass here and before Greenwich was recognized as the “zero” meridian, it was here that the Peace Center was located. It’s a beautiful park with a lot of history, breathtaking vistas and cozy, sophisticated corners.
The Bois de Boulogne (Bois de Boulogne) is home to arguably one of the most beautiful parks in France, the Bagatelle (Bagatelle – trinket). Grottos and waterfalls, roses and lilies, peacocks and swans, lawns and powerful trees, a small royal pavilion and an excellent restaurant, alleys of wisteria closing overhead, fields of tulips, exquisite sculpture, gardens of fruits and vegetables…. It is hard to think of a more marvelous park!
In the Bois de Boulogne Forest there is also the Jardin du Pré-Catelan, a charming park with a corner dedicated to Shakespeare and all the plants mentioned in his works.
The parks of Paris are harmony and beauty waiting for you!
