Mallorca is an inexhaustible storehouse of fabulous tourist routes.
n
On the northern coast of the island, washed by sea waters, there is a stunning cape Formentor. An excursion to this beautiful place will allow you to enjoy a delightful landscape, the beauty of which is difficult to convey in words.
n
There is crystal clear water, a beautiful beach with fine white sand, steep cliffs descending directly to the sea, and peaks covered with evergreen forests. The main attractions of the island also include an ancient lighthouse of the XIX century and a watchtower of the XVI century.
n
You will definitely go up to the observation deck, which is located at a height of about 300 meters. From it you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of Mallorca’s most famous cape.
n
Afterwards you will have free time to go down to Formentor Beach, where you can swim and have lunch at the beach café.
n
The next point of the trip will be the Monastery of Lluc, excursions here are a real mystery. The Monastery of Lluc is an important pilgrimage site in Mallorca, located 500 meters above sea level in the Sierra Tramuntana mountains in the north of the island. It is considered the spiritual center of all the Balearic Islands, as well as a place of pilgrimage.
n
According to legend, the first chapel was built on the site of the discovery of an image of the Virgin Mary, which was discovered by a local shepherd sometime in 1229. However, in 1520 the image was strangely lost and in its place a sculpture made in Gothic style appeared. You will learn more about this history during our tour.
n
It is still here today – the statue of St. Virgin of Luuk or Black Madonna, it is considered the main shrine of the island. There are a lot of such statues in the world, but in Spain there are only three – one in the Monastery of Lluc, one in the Monastery of Montserrat, which is no less popular among pilgrims, and the third one in the Canary Islands.
n
The Black Madonna received its name because of the too dark shade of the face. Such a color is formed as a result of the fact that black stone, black wood is used or as a result of prolonged exposure to tea from candles.
n
The peculiarity of the monastery of Ljuk is also in the fact that on its territory there is a museum, where you can see archaeological finds dating back to the prehistoric period. The monastery itself is surrounded by a beautiful garden, which appeared here in 1956.
n
And at the end of the tour you will stop by the wine cellar, where you will have the opportunity to walk among the vineyards, taste local liqueurs, wines and typical Mallorcan products. You can also learn some of the secrets of local wine production first hand from the winery professionals.
