The tour to Ronda, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, starts on the Costa del Sol. Just an hour’s drive from
Marbella, on a mountain road with stunning views, and you are in a city that is about 3,000 years old. Ronda is located on
a cliff that served as a natural defense against enemy attacks.
n
The so-called “New Bridge” and the bullring are the main symbols of the city. The bridge offers amazing views of the valley, the so-called “Orchestra Pit”. And it was in Ronda that the rules of bullfighting on foot were approved, which are still in force today, and it is here, in late August and early September, that one of the most prestigious bullfights in Spain, the so-called bullfight “Goyesca” is held, in which the most famous bullfighters of Spain take part.
There is a Royal Riding School and museums of bullfighting and antique weapons.
n
In local restaurants you can try traditional Spanish dishes such as oxtail or grilled meat dishes.
n
Ronda is the winemaking center of Malaga province, wine has been produced here since Roman times. The excursion can be combined with a visit to the so-called “bodega”, i.e. wine factory, where you can have a tasting, and where you will be told about the process of making local wines.
n
Small children will be very interested to visit the “Smurfs Village”, which is located near Ronda in Huskar. Here all the houses are painted blue, with drawings of the funny gnomes from the cartoon “The Smurfs”.
