OVERVIEW EXCURSION of Naples by car.

The tour will start with a walking tour, then you will see:

  • Via Partenopei – a historic street built up with commercial houses and expensive hotels.
  • Victoria Square – dedicated to the victory in the Battle of Lepanto, one of the most beautiful squares of Naples.
  • King’s Garden (Villa Comunale) – was built in the 1780s by King Ferdinand IV on reclaimed land along the coast between the main part of the city and the small port of Mergellina. The park was originally the “Royal Garden”, reserved for members of the royal family but open to the public on special holidays.The Zoological Station is the first in Western Europe, set up with funds by zoologist Anton Dorn in 1872.
  • Fountain of Partenopea – The Fountain of the Giant is located on Partenopea Street in the historic centre. The fountain was built in the XVII century by the famous Italian architects Michelangelo Naccherino and Pietro Bernini.
  • Posillipo Hill (stop at the famous viewpoint) is a hillock in the northern part of the Bay of Naples. The name is derived from the Greek toponym Pausillipon, meaning “quenching of pain”.
  • View of the bay and Vesuvius Volcano – an active volcano, about 15 kilometres from Naples.
  • A view of the Sorrentine Peninsula – enclosing the Gulf of Naples from the south-eastern side.
  • View of the island of Capri – its area is 10 square kilometres and its population is about 15,000 people.
  • Villa Rosberi is a monumental complex – one of the main monuments of neoclassicism in the city. The villa was built as a royal residence.
  • Vergiliano Park – A picturesque park located on the Posillipo hill. The park serves as a green oasis built of tufa. A series of terraces overlooking the entire bay provides the park with a unique set of spectacular views.
  • View of the island of Nisida (Brutus’ residence) – A former volcano, the island has an almost circular shape and high steep banks. In the 16th century a castle was built over the western cliff, controlling the passage to the Gulf of Naples.
  • View of the Fields of Flegrei, a large volcanic area, on the shores of the Gulf of Pozzuoli, bounded on the west by a promontory.
  • View of the Ischia Islands – a volcanic island. Also known as Enaria.
  • View of the island of Procida – the island is one of the three main islands in the gulf, along with Capri and Ischia.
  • Cape Miseno – Capo Miseno is a cape marking the north-western border of the Gulf of Naples.
  • An optional lunch stop at a guide-recommended restaurant.
