Edenlandia Amusement Park
The Italian version of Disneyland in the heart of Naples. Italy’s oldest and one of the largest theme parks dormant for 5 years before reopening on 25 July 2018 after an extensive renovation. The renovated Edenlandia features 38 historic and new rides, 15 restaurants, many food courts and multi-brand shops, entertainment areas and event spaces. Visitors can browse the toy and souvenir shops, go to a theatrical performance in the children’s theatre, listen to their favourite band in the PalaEden concert hall, take part in competitions and workshops.
The idea of creating the first theme park with attractions in Italy belonged to two businessmen – Oreste Rossoto and Luca Gresio. “The prototype” of Edenlandia was the legendary California Disneyland, which appeared in the United States in 1955. The Naples version was built by 1965. An obvious reference to Disneyland is the snow-white castle with spires, which still “greets” guests at the entrance.
The amusement park has 38 rides, some of which were operating in the 70s. Among the “old timers” are colourful wrought iron trains that take you on a journey through almost all of Edenland – through fairy-tale worlds with glaciers, jungles, magical tunnels, bridges and the famous castle. During the ride, passengers meet Snow White and the 7 dwarfs, unicorns, elephants, camels, Bambi the reindeer and many other inhabitants of the magical land.
Many of the rides were built before the park opened. Visitors enjoy riding the new roller coasters, merry-go-rounds, jumping on the trampoline and competing on the go-kart track.
The park has its own lake, with a mystical pirate galleon moored in the centre. A floating walkway runs from the ship across the lake to a lavish castle, the symbol of Edenland. This is the home of the mysterious and terrifying Lord Shaydon, as well as a variety of ghosts. Visitors will have to shudder with surprise more than once, encountering paranormal phenomena at every turn. Talking paintings, magical crystal balls, medieval legends coming to life – only the brave will be able to pass the tests.
The amusement park is open to the public all days of the week except Monday.
