Grazie is an ancient fishing village on the banks of the Mincio River. It is home to an ancient sanctuary that has attracted and continues to attract numerous pilgrims. This unique place is filled with numerous “ex voto” and evidence of popular veneration. The inner walls of the sanctuary are decorated with wooden statues and papier-mâché sculptures depicting all those whom the Madonna saved from imminent death. Every year on August 15, the churchyard hosts an international competition for devotees of the Virgin Mary, during which artists from all over the world try their hand at recreating religious-themed paintings by drawing with colored crayons on the sidewalk.
Here, in the Mincio National Nature Park, you can take a boat trip on the Mincio River aboard a fishing barge.
