This is the elegant and colorful La Croisette, the Star Alley, the Palais des Festivals and the fairytale history of the city…. Once upon a time, the cholera epidemic of 1834 in Nice abruptly changed the fate of provincial and quiet Cannes. From a poor stepdaughter, as in the fairy tale about Cinderella, the city became a beautiful princess. This “miracle” happened in a matter of moments (in the historical sense). On the hill “Syuke” from 60-meter height opens a breathtaking panorama of the city: a small and cozy bay, decorated on the right by the mountain range Esterel, opposite – Lerinski islands … Everyone who even accidentally stayed in this unknown (once but not now) place, fell in love forever in the wonderful picture of southern nature. His master tried to slit his throat, and by the next evening it was clear that the public favorite and famous French writer Guy de Maupassant had gone mad. From here, from Cannes, he would be taken to a psychiatric hospital on the right bank of the Seine…The history of the Palme d’Or and film festivals begins in 1939. So many names! And what names! The starry avenue near the Palais des Festivals only slightly opens the curtain on the most important mystery of the XX century – cinema…
