The Cape Sounion Archaeological Site and the Temple of Poseidon. A trip along the beautiful coastline of the Saronic Gulf of the Aegean Sea, past the green, picturesque suburbs of the capital from the seaside, and the opportunity to visit and swim in the thermal lake of Vouliagmeni, where the water is heated year-round by warm underground springs. The tour concludes with the astonishing Cape Sounion. Rising above the sea, on its summit stands the ancient Temple of Poseidon, built in the mid-5th century BC – during the period known as the “golden age of Pericles.” Several myths and legends are associated with this site.
