Just an hour and a half drive from Marbella to the city of Tarifa, another hour by ferry and you are on the African coast, in Tangier, a cosmopolitan city of about a million people.
n
You leave the port and drive first through the Portuguese quarter, Spanish, English and then enter the California district, the former American quarter, home to the city’s most affluent residents. Cape Spartel, and the lighthouse of the same name here, is where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet. Heading towards the Cave of Hercules, you stop next to the ocean. Here you can take a camel ride or take a picture with the “ship of the desert”.
n
Medina is the old part of the city. Here you can find a fish market, where you can see huge ocean tuna, and a real Arabian bazaar. Time seems to be frozen in the narrow streets of Tangier. Lunch takes place in a typical Moroccan restaurant with local musicians singing. The tour continues in souvenir stores where you can buy argan oil, carpets and locally produced spices.
n
You transfer to the port, and return to your home continent, the port of Tarifa.
n
Excursion for: Russians, European and US citizens.
n
Duration of the excursion: 12-13 hours.
