Excursion to Granada and the Alhambra.

Granada, the last capital of the Moors in the Iberian Peninsula. In 1492, the Catholic Kings Ferdinand and Isabella ended the Reconquista (liberation of the territory from the Moors) with the capture of Granada.

Next to the Cathedral of Granada is the Tomb of the Catholic Kings, where they were buried according to their will. At the end of the main street of the city, Avenida de Colón, there is a sculptural composition, the meeting of Isabella and Columbus. It was here in Granada that Columbus received royal permission (and funding) to conduct his expedition. The Albaicín neighborhood is one of the most interesting places in the city.

Alhambra is a complex of palaces of different epochs, which is called the eighth wonder of the world. The so-called Nazarene palaces, built during the reign of the Moors, from IX to XV century and the Generalife Palace – the brightest works of Arab architecture in modern Europe.
