Excursion to Nerja.

Nerja, one of the most beautiful and distinctive towns of the Costa del Sol.

n

The name of the town comes from the Arabic “Nariksha”, which means abundant springs .

n

Nerja, along with Marbella, is considered to have the best climate on the Costa del Sol. The most beautiful seashore and the clearest water on the coast is in Nerja. Construction boom has not changed the outward appearance of the city, cozy Old Town, two or three-story houses and friendly residents – all this is Nerja.

n

The main attractions of the city are the so-called “Balcony of Europe” and of course the Cave.

n

The Balcony ofEurope is an observation deck overlooking the sea in the old part of the city. Once there was a fortress here, built by the Moors, which was destroyed during the invasion of Napoleon’s troops. The place was named after Alfonso XIII, King of Spain, who visited the place in 1885. The sculpture of the king, installed here, commemorates this event.

n

TheNerja Cave, which is located near Maro, is one of the most beautifulcaves in Spain. Every year, in the second half of July, the Cave Music Festival is held here, where Mstislav Rastropovich, Maya Plisetskaya and Placido Domingo once took part.

n

Finishing the tour, you visit Frijiliana, a typical “White Village of Andalusia”, which is 8 minutes drive from Nerja.

n

Here you can taste “Moscatel”, a sweet wine typical of the coast of Málaga and walk through the narrow and cozy streets of the Spanish village.

n

Travel time from Marbella: 1 hour and 20 minutes.

n

Total tour time with time for lunch is 7 hours.
