FOLKLORE EVENING

Excursion: folklore evening.

The folklore evening is organised in a typical Sardinian restaurant near Cagliari.

The cuisine of Sardinia is simple and practical, in the spirit of shepherd and peasant traditions: bread, cheese and meat. Bread to suit all tastes, local dishes prepared with imagination and love, a variety of dairy products, vegetables and fruits from the bountiful land, sweets with almonds, cheese, homemade wines and exquisite wines from famous local winemakers.

You will taste Porceddu’s speciality – suckling pig roasted on a spit and served on a wooden or cork wood platter with myrtle leaves.

The evening ends with old-fashioned dances performed by girls and boys in national costumes, shimmering with bright colours and striking embroidery.

Folklore Evening is home to many products of the highest quality: from pecorino sheep cheese to hard Fiore Sardo sheep’s milk cheese, from prickly artichoke to saffron, from mullet caviar to wines.

Family-run eateries and restaurants are always at work preparing traditional dishes and local recipes. Starting with bread ovens: from kokkoi to chivraxu, from pan gerda to karasau bread. And various bread dishes such as pane frattau, as well as pasta, dry pasta such as fregola and malloreddus, or fresh pasta such as koulourgones, filindeu and lorigittas.

All this you can try in a small family restaurant where you will be welcomed in traditional costumes and taste the best of Sardinian cuisine – the main dish of which is suckling pig on a spit – and hear Sardinian choruses.
