GARDEN OF SINGING STONES AND ARGIOLAS

Tour of the town of San Sperato and the Garden of Singing Stones and visit to the Argiolas winery.

If you are holidaying on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia and are looking for something to see in the province of Cagliari, visit the “Garden of Singing Stones” in the museum town of San Sperato.

In people’s minds, stones are silent and emotionless objects. They are always gloomy and cold. But on the island of Sardinia there is a place that makes you think otherwise. It is the Garden of Singing Stones, created by the sculptor Pinuccio Schela.

Pinuccio Schela’s aim was to prove that even stones that are silent and gloomy at first sight have a soul, but cannot show it themselves.

The sculptor personally selected the most ordinary boulders from the coastal regions of Italy to create his Garden of Singing Stones. And after the initial processing at the quarry, the magic began. Shelagh carried out long and painstaking work with each specimen, making incisions, grinding and cutting. This is how he was able to bring out the soul of the seemingly lifeless stones.

The famous garden is home to more than 800 singing sculptures. To hear their voices, it is enough to touch them or run your hand over the surface.

The sounds emitted by the boulders are very diverse and can resemble the melodies produced by musical instruments or the singing of gentle voices. Each monument is unique and unrepeatable.

Another great place is the Argiolas winery, which produces the Sardinian wine, Turriga. The rich drink is made from a blend of Cannonau and Carignano, matured in the oak barrels of the Argiolas winery. The recipe belongs to the wine maestro Giacomo Takis, a member of the Antinori dynasty. The revered gentleman has developed a formula for a red dry wine with a rich garnet colour. The strong flavour of cannonau wine material is laced with tart berry notes, and the drink has a long aromatic aftertaste. The wine strength is 14.5%, which makes it a good companion to meat, poultry, hard cheeses and pasta. The price of a bottle of Turrig is quite high – about 20 euros, but it is worth it. The products of the Argiolas winery, which have earned the trust of consumers since 1918, are now honoured with many awards and quality marks. The magnificent wine, which was created by the incomparable Giacomo Takis, is loved and known all over the world.

You will be able to discover the secrets of the most famous wine cellar in Sardinia, see all the stages of wine making, have a tasting and take away an unforgettable experience that will accompany you for a long time.
