Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology

Here you can see Leonardo’s sketches of inventions and models, most of which were made for the grand exhibition of 1952, organised to celebrate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo’s birth.

Located in a former 16th-century convent in the heart of Milan, the Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology is the largest museum of its kind in Europe.

The most popular part of the exhibition is devoted to vehicles.

The first pavilion is devoted entirely to 20th century railway transport: old steam locomotives and trams of various types are a constant delight for the youngest visitors.

Astronomy laboratory, spacesuits of Soyuz cosmonauts and even a fragment of a chemical element from the surface of the Moon.

The next large pavilion is devoted to water and air transport. There is a real sailing ship “Geba”, as well as an authentic part of the transatlantic liner “Conte Biancomano”.

It will be interesting to see various authentic examples of aeroplanes, torpedoes, cannons, in addition to the fate of masterpieces of the great Tuscan, lost paintings and new discoveries. The history of Stradivarius violins and the “devil of music” Paganini.

The most famous part of the collection is outside the pavilions. This is not surprising, as it is a real submarine (Enrico Toti), the first submarine built in Italy in the post-war period.
