Lucerne

Luzern is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in German-speaking Switzerland, the jewel of the country. Lucerne was the first to join the Swiss Confederation, and is now famous, among other things, for the legendary Wilhelm Tell. It is here that the famous story of the boy and the apple unfolded.

Located in the heart of Switzerland, Lucerne embraces all the country’s charms – a picturesque winding lake with rocky shores, high mountains with snow-capped mountains, and ancient “gingerbread town” architecture. Everyone will find something to their liking in this town: old painted houses, medieval wooden bridges and a fortress wall await the lovers of antiquity, numerous hiking trails, skiing and sledging await the supporters of active recreation, romantic promenade and cosy restaurants await the lovers, and cruises along the picturesque places of the lake are for the lazy ones.

A two-hour walk around the town will bring you many pleasant impressions. Almost every corner of the city has its own centuries-old history. The famous Kapellbrücke, the oldest covered wooden bridge in Europe; the 34-metre high water tower, the symbol of the city; the Musgrave Fortress, a medieval city defence wall with nine towers; the Dying Lion Memorial, the world’s saddest and most touching stone sculpture; and the modern Culture and Congress Centre await you.
