MALAGA. The royal road. Guadalorese Lakes.

The so-called “Royal Road” is a narrow path about 1 meter wide in the gorge of El Chorro, in the Ardales Natural Park, near the Guadalorese Lakes.
These places are considered the most beautiful in the province of Málaga, and the road got its name in 1921, when King Alfonso XIII of Spain walked along it.
In 2017, the Road was recognized as the most beautiful “tourist attraction” in Spain.
For a long time, the road was half destroyed and it was forbidden to pass through it. In 2015, the Royal Road was opened to visitors (actually built anew).
The hiking route along the road is accessible to people of all ages.
Children: from 8 years old.
You walk the total distance of about 7 kilometers in about two hours.
After that, you take a shuttle bus back to the starting point, to the restaurant “El Mirador”. It is located near the lake, famous for its fantastic views and excellent cuisine.
IMPORTANT: To pass the “Royal Road” it is necessary to book an entrance ticket a few days before the proposed date! The cost is 10 euros.
In summer you can usually go swimming and sunbathing on the lake in a specially equipped place after the route.
Travel time from Marbella is 1 hour and 20 minutes. From Malaga 35 min.
Total duration of the tour with transfer and lunch is about 7-9 hours.
