Attractive Spanish settlements

Rupit
The territory of the unusual mountain settlement belongs to the national park. It is located on volcanic terrain, at an altitude of about 890 meters above sea level. Stepping on the land of the ancient settlement, travelers may seem that they have been transported back in time. Everything here seems unusual – quiet, measured life, the mighty walls of the fortress, places reminiscent of the life of artisans. But the most incredible fact, causing tourists surprise and delight – the choice of the place of creation of the city. More than 11 thousand years ago there was a volcanic eruption here, and the frozen lava became a springboard for the construction of the town and was used as a building material. An earthquake around the XV century destroyed Rupit almost to the ground, but still some families remained in the town. The town was rebuilt between the XVI and XVII centuries, with stylization of medieval buildings.

Besalu
The whole territory of this area does not exceed 5 square kilometers, which can be bypassed quite quickly. In the last century (60s), the town became a national historical complex, and its entire small area is considered an open-air monument. The history of this lovely settlement dates back to the 10th century (according to archaeologists), when the first castle was built. Connoisseurs of cinema will easily recognize the area presented in the film “Perfume”, which faithfully conveys the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.

The excursion can be continued (at the option of vacationers) with a trip to the observation deck located on the territory of the mysterious settlement of El Far.
