Medieval Sforzesco Castle is the name of the residences of the Milanese dukes of the Sforza dynasty in Milan and Vigevano. The Milanese castle was originally built in the 14th century as the residence of the Visconti, but was dismantled by a mob of rebellious people after the proclamation of the Ambrosian Republic.

Victor Emmanuel II Gallery is a covered shopping arcade in the centre of Milan, one of the first arcades in Europe, built between 1865 and 1877.

The Teatro alla Scala is an opera house built in 1778, a world centre of opera culture. The building was built on the site of the demolished Gothic church of Santa Maria alla Scala, from which the theatre got its popular name.

Walk around the Brera district – Milan’s Montmartre – A quarter of Milan, located in the urban area of zone 1, the historic centre of the city. The name of the quarter comes from the medieval Italian word “braida” or “brera”, derived from the Lombard “brayda”, meaning “land cleared of trees”.
