Visit the Milan Planetarium, especially if you are on holiday with children. The Ulrico Hoepli Planetarium in Milan was created to increase knowledge of astronomy and related sciences (physics, astrophysics, space, etc.).
This planetarium is the largest in Italy and is very important for the education of children and adults.
The Ulrico Hoepli Planetarium’s projection system allows the planets in the night sky and various astronomical phenomena observed in the past, present or future to be reproduced with amazing realism from anywhere on Earth.
The planetarium’s computer-controlled projection system projects pictures of the starry sky and various astronomical phenomena onto a 20-metre diameter dome.
The planetarium was inaugurated in Milan on 10 July 1929. It was the second planetarium built in Italy. The first planetarium was opened in Rome in 1928, but it suffered a sad fate – it lasted only a few years and was closed.
Night Sky Tours
These tours offer a chance to observe the night sky, or rather the planets. You will be taught how to identify the major constellations, and you will also see various astronomical phenomena. Such events will be interesting for beginners, those who have encountered astronomy for the first time or who just want to enjoy the spectacle of the starry sky.
Activities for children
These events present all topics in a light playful and informative form, which is most suitable for children. Sometimes it takes the form of a fairy tale, in which, the narrative techniques of theatre, best convey the principle of astronomical phenomena to the young audience. These shows are aimed at children over 8 years old (unless age is specified).
*All excursions are in Italian only, so it is possible to order an assistant interpreter.
