This one-day excursion is dedicated to the eccentric surrealist artist, a cult figure known worldwide for his eccentric works and borderline insane behavior – Salvador Dalí.
n
What you will see in one day will probably become one of the most vivid events of your whole life. The trip will begin with a visit to the Salvador Dalí Museum, which has become a colorful accent of the picturesque town of Figueiras. The end of the tour will be just as vibrant, extraordinary and eccentric. You will arrive there, where lived the muse of Genius, his other half, Gala – in the castle, which became her home, where her crazy husband could enter only with the written permission of the mistress herself.
n
The first stop is to meet the genius Salvador
n
From your hotel on a comfortable car you will arrive to the place where the soul of the Creator lives and his body is buried – in the Salvador Dali Museum. And even if you are one of those tourists who hear this name for the first time, there will be enough time (the road will take about 1.5 hours) to realize how extraordinary this person was. Your guide all the way will be telling clients the most interesting stories about his amazing life, filled with intriguing events beyond reasonable comprehension.
n
Upon arrival you will see the most extraordinary building – the museum, so what is it interesting:
n
- n
- The exterior. Already at first sight you can realize that here Dali left a piece of his soul and a lot of money. This is completely his masterpiece, his brainchild! Everything was thought out to the smallest detail, selected bright accents for decoration – unusual “egg” sculptures, symmetrically arranged stucco on the walls, as if, floating – glass dome. Dali worked on the museum for long 14 years, and since 1974 its doors opened for all comers.
- Amazing exhibits Examining the exhibited works of the genius master, try to leave common sense at the door. Let go of the situation, let your eyes enjoy what you see, this is a collection of his famous canvases, amazing sculptures and interestingly furnished rooms. We can highlight the most striking works – the installation “Rain Taxi” with a Cadillac with rain falling inside, “Illusory Torero”, “The Ghost of Sexual Attraction”, “Soft Self-Portrait with Bacon”, “Gala Looking at the Mediterranean Sea, or Portrait of Abraham Lincoln”.

Where his muse lived, or a journey to the Castle of Gala
n
Gala Castle – an 11th century castle sometimes impregnable to Salvador – is only a 30-minute drive from his museum. It was bought by the genius in 1968 for his one, unique muse, Elena Diakonova. At the time of purchase, the old building was in a deplorable condition, but after the reconstruction it changed beyond recognition.
n
Crossing the threshold of the old mansion, you will feel the spirit of its extravagant mistress. Here everything – furniture, interior items have remained in their places. It may even seem for a moment that Gala herself, who has left for a while, will soon appear…
n
First you will pass to the patio, where the favorite vehicle of the family – Datsun car still stands, and in the garage there is a luxurious Cadillac DeVille. Your journey will continue with a visit to the Armorial Hall with snow-white walls. The sullen painted ceiling is out of the ensemble, but this decoration serves as a reminder of the extravagance of the owners.
n
Each room of the castle is interesting in its own way:
n
- n
- In the Armorial Hall, the presence of a gilded throne engraved with the letter “G”;
- The decoration of the kitchen and the first bedroom is red;
- The other bedroom is blue, with access to the bathroom;
- The attic served as a dressing room for Gala’s most expensive dresses.
