Sansepolcro is located 114 km from Florence.
Sansepolcro is a town in the Italian region of Tuscany, formed on the site of a Benedictine monastery and reached its greatest prosperity in the XV century. The monastery itself was founded in the Middle Ages by pilgrims from the Holy Land. According to legend, they built a chapel to store the relics of the Holy Sepulchre, hence the name of the town (“Sansepolcro” means “holy burial place”).
Sansepolcro is also famous because it is the place where one of the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance, Piero della Francesca, was born and lived.

Palazzo Pretorio – on the square of which is the Municipal Museum, which houses the most important attraction of Sansepolcro – the fresco “Resurrection of Christ” by Piero della Francesca, for which thousands of tourists come to the city.
The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie – early 16th century,
Cathedral – in Romanesque-Gothic style, located on the site of the first Benedictine abbey. Of particular value is the wooden sculpture of the crucified Christ – “The Holy Face” from the 9th century, Polyptych “Resurrection of Christ” by Nicolo di Segna and “Ascension” by Perugino.
The historical square of Torre di Berta – where the most important event of the city – the medieval Tournament of Crossbowmen – is held every year.
The Church of Saints Antonio Abata and Eligia – built in the 14th century and belonging to the religious brotherhood that built the first hospital in the city. They also commissioned a beautiful easel painting from Luca Signorelli, which still adorns the main altar of the church.
