SEAT OF THE ORDER OF MALTA

The residence of the Order of Malta on the Aventine Hill: already a mid-19th century guidebook makes the keyhole in Rome a must-see. Every day hundreds of tourists stand in front of the door of the Order to look through the keyhole and see the dome of St Peter’s.

Through the keyhole in Rome you can see: Italy, because it is the territory of Rome, the Vatican, which you can see the dome of St Peter’s Cathedral and the Maltese dome itself.

The door is rarely opened, but we will have the opportunity to go beyond it.

Beyond the keyhole, a beautiful garden blooms and an inconspicuous well stands in the shade of an old Lebanese cedar tree. In fact, it is the only surviving evidence of the Templars’ existence in Rome. After enjoying the stunning views of Rome and the Vatican, we go to the temple of the order, which is striking with its unique architecture.

The tour is led by a guide who is an art historian.

Customers can also add to the tour sights of interest to them.
