Tour of the Parma ham factory and tasting of Lambrusco:

This one-day tour starts in the city of Parma and takes in the Langirano area, a charming place in the gastronomic region of Emilia-Romagna, as well as in the neighbourhood of Parma. This one-day programme will be interesting and exciting for both adults and children.

During the excursion you will have time to visit a factory producing Parma ham, taste Parma ham and the famous Lambrusco wine, visit a medieval castle, and you will also be given a tour of the city of Parma.

The journey will begin in the city of Parma.

From the city of Parma you will go to the Parma ham factory. At the factory you will be met by a friendly and very cheerful Italian – the owner of the estate, who will reveal all the secrets of the production of Parma ham, you will see all the stages of aging, learn the history of the origin and observance of ancient recipes under the D.O.P. sign.

You will also enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the Emilia-Romagna region, and taste Parma ham along with local Lambrusco wine, which goes perfectly with ham.

After your visit to the factory you will be taken on a fairytale journey to a medieval castle with a fascinating story about the eternal love of Count Pier Maria Rossi and his mistress Bianca, for whom the castle was built. The chic interior is painted with 16th century frescoes in the “grotesque” style. You can endlessly admire the “Golden Room” with 15th century frescoes on the walls and on the vault, telling the story of the love story of Pierre Marie and Bianca.

Afterwards you continue your journey for a tasting of the local Lambrusco wine in a local enoteca, where the owner will tell you the history of the wine, offer to taste several types of Lambrusco and convince you that it is the best wine in the world.

After the tasting you will go to the beautiful city of Parma for a guided tour, where you will visit the ancient Farnese Theatre, the Baptistery, the Cathedral, the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist, the Room of Abatissa, Mother Superior of the former convent of St Paul, and the ancient pharmacy of the monks. You will also learn about the life of Giuseppe Verdi and his great contribution to music, and why every corner of Parma reminds you of the great composer.
