Hunting for truffles.
The world of truffles is fascinating for its mystery, secrets and many curious and unexpected facts.
No one has ever seen them grow, not even the experts who have been studying and collecting them for years. The truffle’s entire life is underground and depends entirely on the roots of certain trees that share their carbohydrate reserves with it.
In Tuscany there are several places that offer the best natural conditions for the truffle to emerge and germinate. You can visit one of the most undiscovered and wondrous corners of Tuscany, which is famous for its divine truffle.
There is a specific type of truffle for each season and, believe me, each of them is full of unique flavour and aroma, making a mosaic of the most diverse and unique flavour combinations with different ingredients.
The season of the precious white truffle in Tuscany opens on September 10 and ends on December 31. Connoisseurs of white truffle should gather in Tuscany during this period. However, if you missed the harvesting of the “white forest diamond”, no need to worry, as from January until next September the curly-haired friendly dogs will be looking for other varieties of underground “jewels” to delight our taste buds while we wait for the “white king of autumn”.
So, we can go on this exciting adventure at any time of the year (except May).
What to expect:
You will depart from your accommodation by car with a professional driver.
At your arrival you will meet the main truffle “hunter” and his faithful, patient and friendly companion, the dog.
Then you will head into the forest to discover all the secrets and surprises of this valuable underground mushroom.
By the end of the walk you will probably feel light-headed and pleasantly dizzy from the freshest forest air, the intoxicating aroma of truffle and, of course, the mass of emotions you have received.
It is impossible to end this adventure without tasting the fresh seasonal truffle. During the meal you will taste dishes with this wonderful mushroom, sample fine wines and savour unforgettable snacks.
After all, you will understand why you suddenly feel so good and your mood is high! And it’s not just because of the positive emotions and good Tuscan wine.
