TURIN

Tourin city walking tour.

This tour is conducted on foot or by car at the client’s choice.

Tourin is the capital of Piedmont and the fourth most populous city in Italy. Despite the proximity of the Alps, travellers don’t come here for their snow-capped peaks. The city attracts travellers with its rich history, cosy streets and abundance of attractions. To see all the historical buildings, museums and expositions of Turin, you will need at least a week. But you’ll need time to enjoy leisurely strolls through the squares and squares and the Po riverfront. The ancient city of Turin has twice held the proud title of “capital of the state”: in the second half of the 16th century it was chosen as the seat of the Savoy dynasty; in the mid-19th century it became the official centre of the Kingdom of Italy.

The unique architecture reminds us of these years, which still allows us to call the city “the capital of the Baroque”.

Fans of sightseeing tourism will not be bored in Turin – there are many architectural buildings and museums, as well as sights that have an aura of mystery and mysticism. The Shroud of Turin is a venerated object of veneration throughout the Catholic world.

You can see:

The Mole Antonelliana, the city’s main symbol and the tallest brick tower in Europe.

The observation deck – from where Turin can be seen from the palm of your hand.

The Basilica of Superga – which stands on a hill, a striking example of late Baroque architecture, in the walls of which the Piedmontese kings are buried. Only a guide is allowed to descend into the crypt. At the back of the building is a memorial to the local football team, Torino. In 1949, an aeroplane with the players on board hit the dome of the basilica and crashed.

The residence of the Savoy monarchs is Chateau Valentino, built in the historic part of the city. It is now home to a university and a park in the courtyard.

Madama Palace, another residence of the kings, was laid out in the first century and subsequently rebuilt several times. It now combines Baroque opulence with Romanesque austerity.

The Church of San Lorenzo is one of Gvarino Gvarini’s finest creations.

The Cathedral of St John the Baptist was built on the site of the first Christian churches in the 15th century, and a century later an extension was built where tourists can see a copy of the legendary Turin Shroud. Every quarter of a century it is replaced by the original of the famous relic, but not for long.

If you wish, you can organise a tasting of Turin’s Bicherin drink in the historic cafe.
