Naples Zoo:
This is a beautiful zoo located in the outskirts of Naples. Lo Zoo di Napoli is one of the oldest zoos in Italy. It is a popular recreational spot for locals. Additionally, thousands of city guests visit it annually. On an area of 100,000 sq. m, more than 90 species of animals, birds, and reptiles currently reside. Many of them are very rare and are endangered in the wild. The territory of the zoo itself, as well as the valuable and rare plants, are also of interest.
Here you can enjoy watching animals in their natural habitat. The zoo is known for its cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal place to relax and escape the summer heat. You will have the opportunity to see many different species of animals. A wide selection of drinks and food is also offered here. The zoo is compact, so you can explore it in a few hours. Major attractions include elephants, lions, tigers, leopards, and the reptile house. The zoo takes good care of its animals, and they look happy and healthy. There are also playgrounds for children where they can have fun and enjoy a wonderful day among the animals.
The Naples Zoo is located in the Fuorigrotta area. It is adjacent to Italy’s largest trade fair center, “Mostra d’Oltremare,” the amusement park “Edenlandia,” an archaeology park, and several theaters.
The feature of “Lo Zoo di Napoli” is that today its territory has been created to conditions that are as close as possible to those in which animals live in the wild. The animal habitats were completely updated in 2014-2016.
While walking through the park, you will meet representatives from all five continents. A separate area is dedicated to reptiles, and there is a crocodile farm. In the savannah zone, antelopes, zebras, giraffes, hippos, and rhinos live. A large area is allocated for elephants, tigers, and lions. You can observe bears, lemurs, kangaroos, and seals. There is a pond for waterfowl and space for large birds of prey, enclosures for ostriches, and areas for cranes, pelicans, and peacocks.
To the delight of children and adults, “Lo Zoo di Napoli” features a “Petting Farm.” This is an area where geese, goats, rabbits, and other domestic animals roam freely among visitors. They can be fed, petted, and simply observed in their behavior. Zoo staff explain to children how to interact respectfully with animals to avoid harming them.
The territory of the zoo in Naples is a real botanical garden. Here, valuable plant species from Europe, Africa, Asia, America, and Oceania are grown. A total of 202 unique specimens.
