A journey to Northern Cyprus is one of the most unusual historical excursions on the island. In one day you will see several eras at once: the medieval quarters of Famagusta, the silent streets of the famous Varosha, and the ruins of ancient Salamis.
The first part of the journey will be medieval Famagusta — a city whose appearance has preserved powerful fortress walls, stone architecture, and the heritage of different civilizations that have succeeded each other in Cyprus over the centuries.
Particularly impressive is Varosha — the famous ‘ghost town’. Once it was a prestigious Mediterranean resort with modern hotels, restaurants, and beaches. After the events of 1974, the area was abandoned for decades. Today, a walk through the accessible part of Varosha allows you to see a completely different Cyprus — a place where history seems to have stopped in time.
Then the route will continue to ancient Salamis, one of the most significant ancient cities on the island. Here, among the archaeological ruins, fragments of colonnades, public buildings, baths, and a theater have been preserved, allowing one to imagine the scale of the city during its heyday.
During the day, time is allocated for lunch at a national tavern. Lunch is paid for separately.
After the excursion — return to Limassol.
Important
The excursion involves crossing the Green Line and visiting Northern Cyprus. It is necessary to have the original passport with you. For citizens who require a visa to enter Cyprus, it is advisable to check in advance whether the existing document allows for re-entry into the part of the island controlled by the Republic of Cyprus; depending on the type of visa, a double or multiple entry visa may be required. The Green Line is not legally considered an external border of the EU, however, crossing is regulated by separate rules.
