This one-day tour is dedicated to the eccentric surrealist artist, an iconic figure known worldwide for his outrageous works and behavior bordering on madness – Salvador Dalí.
What you will see in one day may become one of the brightest events of your entire life. The journey will begin with a visit to the Salvador Dalí Museum, which has become a colorful highlight of the picturesque town of Figueres. The end of the tour will be just as bright, unconventional, and eccentric. You will arrive at the place where the muse of the Genius lived, his other half, Gala – in the castle that became her home, where her crazy husband could enter only with the written permission of the lady of the house herself.
The first stop is getting to know the genius Salvador.
From your hotel in a comfortable car, you will arrive at the place where the soul of the Creator lives, where his body is buried – in the Salvador Dalí Museum. And even if you are one of those tourists who hears this name for the first time, there will be enough time (the journey takes about 1.5 hours) to understand how extraordinary a personality he was. Upon arrival, you will see the most extraordinary building – the museum, so what makes it interesting:
- Appearance. From the very first glance, you can understand that here Dalí left a piece of his soul and a considerable amount of money. This is entirely his masterpiece, his brainchild! Everything was thought out to the smallest detail, bright accents were chosen for decoration – unusual “egg” sculptures, symmetrically arranged plasterwork on the walls, and a seemingly floating – glass dome. Dalí worked on the museum for a long 14 years, and since 1974, its doors have opened to all who wish.
- Stunning exhibits While viewing the works of the brilliant master on display, try to leave common sense at the door. Let go of the situation, allow your eyes to enjoy what they see, this is a collection of his famous paintings, amazing sculptures, and interestingly furnished rooms. The most striking works can be highlighted – the installation “Rainy Taxi” with a Cadillac, inside which it rains, “Illusory Torero”, “Ghost of Sexual Appeal”, “Soft Self-Portrait with Bacon”, “Gala Looking at the Mediterranean Sea, or Portrait of Abraham Lincoln.”

Gala’s castle – from the 11th century, sometimes inaccessible to Salvador, is only 30 minutes away from his museum. It was purchased by the genius in 1968 for his only, unique muse – Elena Diakonova. At the time of purchase, the ancient building was in a deplorable state, but after reconstruction, it changed beyond recognition.
Crossing the threshold of the ancient mansion, you will feel the spirit of its extravagant mistress. Here everything – furniture, interior items remained in their places. It may even seem for a moment that Gala herself will soon appear, having stepped out for a while…
First, you will walk to the inner courtyard, where the family’s favorite means of transportation still stands – a Datsun car, and in the garage, there is a luxurious Cadillac DeVille. Your path will continue with a visit to the Heraldic Hall with its snow-white walls. The gloomy painted ceiling stands out from the ensemble, but such decoration serves as a reminder of the extravagance of the owners.
Each room of the castle is interesting in its own way:
- In the Heraldic Hall – the presence of a gilded throne with an engraving in the shape of the letter “G”;
- The decoration of the kitchen and the first bedroom is red;
- Another bedroom is blue, from which there is an exit to the bathroom;
- The attic served as a wardrobe for Gala’s most expensive dresses.
